Sequel to the award-winning novel The Chicago Healer.
The adventures of Lucas Stephens continue. Lucas escapes to Africa to avoid the plot against his life by his former pharmaceutical boss Caesar Alexander. There he fights a ruthless mobster in an effort to supernaturally heal orphans and other destitute people. Together with Tabitha Samos, a reporter with whom Lucas shares a secret past failed relationship, they discover that Caesar may be involved in a medical conspiracy that could threaten the lives of millions. They reunite with recovering street person Jake Rubenstein and theologian Edgar Sardisan in Las Vegas to battle Caesar who is about to open the world’s largest casino.
Together they secure the help of a Vegas waitress with a troubled history and a paranoid gambliing addict who has an uncanny ability to predict the future.
Against impossible odds, Lucas must face his past, control his fears, and lead his rogue team in an effort to survive in the ‘city of change’ and challenge Caesar’s corrupt empire.
Paul H. Boge is the author of The Chicago Healer (Castle Quay, Winner 2003 Word Guild’s Best New Canadian Author Award) and Father to the Fatherless: The Charles Mulli Story (BayRidge Books). He wrote and directed the short film Espresso Junction (released by FireGate Films). Paul is a practising professional engineer and is actively involved in public speaking and in a street children’s rescue ministry in Kenya. He lives wherever his engineering projects and research for future novels and films take him.
